Beginning another layout this time in S scale.

A freelance design that could almost anywhere. Its going to be close to a 6 footer’s eye height. So it will be more like rail fanning than those waist height layouts.

This layout will have dead frogs. Fewer shorts and less wire to run.

Anything smaller that HO is too small to consider. Especially too small for dead rail.

Driving on icy roads last night was an experience. I have issues with whom ever planned the layout of I-10 between mile markers 500 and 540. Its in what some might call mountains. There are strong winds that get your attention. There are also curves on bridges. Never mind that we get ice occasionally. Could that be a form of population control?

I have a lot of turnouts

to build. I don’t presently have a contract to build any. I do have a home layout that I’ve been dreaming about. But nothing pressing at the moment. Built a turnout last night. Built one today and started on a another. After that half I’ll only have four more right hand turnouts to build and ten left hand S scale code 83 #5s to build.

Irregardless if anyone is interested I have more than ten each left and right HO code 55 standard gauge turnouts that could use a good home. There were intended to populate the layout that I was building before I decided to switch to S scale.

Have tools to build the following turnouts: HO code 55 #5 standard gauge straight turnouts and crossovers, HO code 70 #8 standard gauge straight turnouts and crossovers, HO code 83 #6 & #8 standard gauge straight turnouts and crossovers, S code 83, #5, #6, #8 standard gauge, straight turnouts. Hopefully by April also S code 83 #7 standard gauge straight turnouts and HO code 83 #5 crossovers.

(Some custom tools are much more than I care to pay. I really would like a cnc router and laser etch machine.)

Its beginning to look like a layout.

The legs are held on with clamps for the time being. We are planing to continue building at the shop. Add all the subroadbed, cork, track, wire and make operational. Paint the rail. Prep control panels. Separate the tables so that they can be easily moved. Reassemble in the customer’s train room. More permanently attach the legs. Ballast track on site. Mount control panels. Etc.
